Believe it or not, homeowners are in control when it comes to foreclosure prevention. As a home owner, you need to decide (hopefully within 30 days) if you are experiencing only a temporary cash flow issue and will be able to continue making payments. If the foreclosure is stopped, homeowners can start rebuilding their credit profile or at least stop it from deteriorating further.
Mortgage modifications are becoming more and more common, with the rising foreclosure rate in the United State, until recently mortgage services have been reluctant to supply help to people facing by utilizing a mortgage modification program. Typically banks don't want to foreclose. Foreclosure this is not their first choice for a solution, your lender would rather work with you on foreclosure prevention.

If you are behind in your payments the lender may let you sell the property for less then what they are owed on the loan - more and more lenders are allowing this type of transaction as a means of foreclosure prevention. The bank would prefer not to take a property back in foreclosure.
Stopping a foreclosure is imperative because a homeowners credit rating affects everything from credit card rates, to property insurance rates, to buying a car or even finding employment. There are reputable services that will assist you in foreclosure prevention.
